Fall Dresses and Tights

As the leaves begin to fall..

and the weather begins to cool, what we wear obviously begins to change too! One of the best ways to start making your wardrobe start to feel more fall inspired is to pair a great dress with some tights. Here i have three totally different ways to wear different types of dresses with tights…

SWEATER DRESS: This is easily the most casual and comfortable look that anyone can pull off! Add a cute little beanie to keep your head warm, some awesome riding boots with a little extra touch (these ones are quilted), and a cross body bag and your ready to do your errands for the day!

VINTAGE INSPIRED DRESS: I just fell in LOVE with this beautiful floral dress when I saw it and i thought it would be a great day time dress for fall! To keep with the vintage inspiration of the dress I paired some oxford heels with it along with a sparrow necklace. I added a burgundy cardigan and a mustard-colored scarf, which are both colors in the details of the dress, to make it more interesting.

LACE DRESS: Lace Dress are beautiful and perfect for date nights! This one is a perfect length and silhouette for everybody type! Since the dress itself it very feminine, I added more edgy arm candy like the skull bangle and spiked bracelet. Lace-up booties are a perfect footwear for a date night because the chunky heel keeps the shoe every comfortable. Throw a cute peacoat over it and your ready for a great night!

MyGlam now IPSY September Bag Review

I’ve been subscribed to MyGlam (just recently Changed their name to IPSY) for about 6 months so I feel I can give an accurate review of how the bags have been for me. You get about 4 to 5 products in every months bag for $10 a month. Some of the products are full size (brushes, nail polish, lip gloss) but most are trial size of products. I think this subscription is good for someone like me who needs help getting familiarized with brand name products without spending a lot of money knowing how or if it works well. I am a very picky shopper (I round stores about 4 times before I decide that shirt is the one I want) so if I can get the chance to try out new products and decide that way if I like it or not I feel like its a good way to choose products.

I just got my september bag so I am going to review it and show you whats inside to give you a better idea of what comes inside:

  • They come in the BEST bubble wrap bag I have ever seen! This Pink Bag lights up my mailbox everytime!

Here is how everything came in the bag: a make-up bag with products in it, a full size brush, and a couple postcards explaining various things.

On one the post cards it explained whats different about IPSY now.

The first product was a LondonSOHONewYork Smudge Brush. It’s a good size and it’s pretty thick. It is also soft and stiff (not too stiff though). This brush retails for $5.97 at Walmart.

Next is the Glam Bag itself. Its a cute black bag with a gold zipper and a wrist strap. Super cute to use as a wristlet for going out.

Inside were four products. The first one was this Jane sparkle gloss. It’s a really bright pink color. It is 0.2 fl. oz. and that is the same size as the ones the sell on their website so this is a full size product. They sell them 3 for $9.99 on the website also so I would say this product is about $3/$4. I really enjoy the color and cant wait to use it.

Next is the Carol’s Daughter Monoi Repairing Split End Sealer. I have a lot of hair so anytime I get a smaller sample I’m a little bummed because chances are I will only get 1 or 2 uses out of it. On the IPSY website its says “A repairing lotion that instantly binds the frayed and separated ends of your hair so you can skip the trim and keep your length.” and that you only needs a pea sized amount to your split ends.

Next is a nail polish. It is Circus By Andrea’s Choice and it is in the color Tightrope. This is a full sized product and is a beautiful color! The finish is matt and the color is a deep almost purple pink color. I have other colors from Andrea’s Choice from my other glam bags and I love them all. They are all true to the color you see and the packaging is adorable!

Last product is a Mirabella Eye Colour shade in the color Semi-Formal. Each one of these colors retail on the website for $10 each. It really is a beautiful bronze color that I can’t wait to use! Although it is beautiful, it might be a little inconvient to give people a single pot not knowing if they have a palette to put it in or not because if you just leave it out it WILL break.

Lastly They gave a gift certificate for $20 off an item at JustFab.com which is really awesome because you can get an item for about $19.99! They have tons of cute boots right now too.

Over all I think this month’s GlamBag was worth the $10 subscription fee. The products definitely totaled over the amount I paid which is a win-win for me! If your looking into a starting a subscription website I think IPSY is a good place to start. What is your favorite monthly subscription website? I hope you enjoyed my review and leave comments with your thoughts! 🙂

3 jean problems, 3 solutions

Jeans have always been the hardest thing for a women to shop for..

because for one: no one woman has the same exact body shape and for two: not every “trend” is for everybody. Fortunately for you as long as you have a great fit that accentuates your figure your jean will never go out of style! Here are some common problems that a lot of people have with jeans and lucky for you I have a solution for each of them!

THE PROBLEM:

The Little/ Flat Butt

THE SOLUTION:

This is a problem I struggle with so it is the one I am most knowledgeable about. I’ve looked high and low to find ways to make my rear end look larger. These are the best tips I’ve come up with:

  • Look for back pockets with details such as pocket flaps, embellishments, designs, etc.  Pretty much the more bulk and dimension your pocket has the bigger it will make your butt look.
  • Look for pockets that are spaced a little wider. The wider the pockets are spaced will give your bump more width.
  • Stick with a low to mid rise. The lower your rise is to your butt will make it look plumper rather than a high rise that would  certainly make your already flat butt look too long.
  • Choose a jean with stretch (lycra) in it not a stiff jean. Lycra is a material they put in jeans to make them more stretchy and less stiff. A stiff jean will only make your butt look flat and squished while a jean with stretch helps follow the curve of your figure.

THE PROBLEM:
Big Hips and Thighs
THE SOLUTION:
This is another big issue that a lot of women are faced with but to me is one of the simplest problems to solve!
  • ALWAYS choose a dark washed jean. The darker the jean the slimmer the effect. It always looks classier and more put together to wear a dark washed jeans rather than a light worn one. “Worn” and faded jeans will almost alway emphasize the area in which they are most worn which usually happens to be the thigh.
  • Choose a straight style jean. A jean that is straight style follows a straight line from your hip to your ankle, In doing so it doesn’t buckle at your knee. When your jean buckles at the knee it will make the other parts of the jean look larger so definitely chose a jean that does not hug your knees.
  • Choose a jean with a little more of a flare/ boot cut. AS LONG AS it doesn’t hug your knees too much, you can choose this style jeans also. It will help bring proportion to your legs by adding a little width to your calves.
  • Get a jean with flat or no pockets in the front. Pocket openings almost always add width to wear they are so to divert that pick a jean with a faux pocket or a pocket that sits completely flat on your hip.

THE PROBLEM:
The curve-less woman.
THE SOLUTION:
The woman with a pretty straight frame, not much hips, and not much (if any at all) is this type. One of the most easy women to dress, here are some helpful hints to put a little hour in your straight glass.
  • A skinny jean or jegging. The closer the jean openings are to your ankle, the more it will emphasize the other parts of your legs. By making this area of your jeans the closest to your body the more curvaceous it will make your hips look.
  • Pick a rise that sits right on your hip. Picking a jean that sits on the widest part of your hip will help your figure stand out more.
  • A distressed jean. You can really wear any type of jean but picking one with some fading and distressing in the thigh area will give you a little more curve.
  • Colored/printed jeans. For one its a big trend right now and for two a brighter color on the bottom half of your body will make it look a little larger.

Product Review: Relvon Lip Butter Color Burst

Lip Butters
I was never really a lipstick girl..
but lately I’ve really been getting into the idea of a brighter pout and when I discovered Revlon Lip Butters (about $7.99) I wondered was I was thinking not diving into this sooner! These particular lip color are advertised as a cross between a lip balm and a lipstick. So it has all the moisture properties of a balm and the coloring of a lipstick. For me personally, I thought the color pay off is pretty impressive for a hybrid lip color. On more casual days I can tap on the Lip Butter and get a little bit of color on my lips and on days when I want a little more I glide it on and it gives me the most beautiful bright pink pout (depending on the color you get of course). These colors can be worn alone because it also has a great shine to it. Overall I do always prefer to put a lip balm under any lip product I wear just incase anything gets a little dry but it is definitely unnecessary to do that with the Revlon Lip Butters. On a scale of 1-10 (10 being the best of the best!) I would rank this product as a 8, as amazing as it is, it does require you to put it on multiple times in a day because it comes off quite quickly. Other than that I have no complaints. Have you tried a Lip Butter or a lipstick hybrid? Let me know what you think of it or share any of your favorite lip products in the comments!

Transitional Piece: Leather (High vs. Low)

Fall is slowly creeping upon us…

And I’ve been seeing a lot of people using Leather (or faux leather) to start helping transition there summer wardrobe to a fall one. I have put together some looks to help you try this out in your wardrobe. I did high end looks and also their affordable counterparts.

Leather Shorts: I think shorts are the easiest way to see if leather or faux leather is for you. They easily add a little edge to any outfit. I added a collared shirt in the color of the season and cute booties to stay on trend. The high-end shorts are $255 from Kelly Bergin and the budget friendly version are $20 from Forever21!

Hi vs. Low: Leather Shorts

Equipment shirt / Sweet Tarts Button Up Shirt / Forever 21 faux leather shorts / Kelly Bergin short shorts, $255 / Black boots / Jeffrey Campbell high heels, $200

Leather Skirt: This is by far my favorite leather piece this season. They are perfect for a date or a night out with your friends depending on how your style it. I decided to glam this one up so I added shirts with embellished necklines and spike crystal heels to keep it a little tough without looks like a biker! So Chic! The High-end skirt is $396 by Alice + Olivia. The budget friendly version is $23 from Forever21.

Hi vs. Low: Leather Skirt

Charlotte Russe rhinestone top / Roberto Cavalli see through top / Alice + Olivia box pleat skirt / Forever 21 skirt / Casadei pumps / Black platform shoes, $56

Leather Pants: Pants are definitely the most daring on the three looks but when you do it (and do it RIGHT) you can totally elevate your style to a higher level. I made this looks more simple with the white blouse and jazzed it up some with killer red peep toe pumps! If your pants do not have pockets in the back of them I would suggest you always choose a shirt that covers most of your behind so as not to look, for lack of a better word non-flattering.The high-end pants are $4,280 from net-a-porter and the budget friendly version is a whopping $25 from forever21.

Hi vs. Lo: Leather Pants

Gucci blouse / Forever 21 / Forever 21 faux leather pants / Balmain snap pants / Luichiny red booties / Giuseppe Zanotti platform stiletto heels, $705

All the High-end looks are on the left and the lower-end are on the right. Could you tell right away which was which? Which look was your favorite? And which leather trend are you most likely to embrace? Please leave a comment below letting us know! Happy Shopping! 🙂
